In an explanatory statement, King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, condemned the Iranian regime's continued delay and outright refusal to complete the procedures related to the investigation into the storming of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and its Consulate in Mashhad, despite more than a year and a half of time. On the contrary, the regime resorted to extortion with the purpose of gaining diplomatic concessions within the Kingdom in light of severing relations between the two countries.

Al-Solamy explained that the Iranian authorities initially accepted to allow the Saudi Arabian team to participate with the relevant Iranian authorities in inspecting the Embassy headquarters in Tehran and the Consulate in Mashhad, however, it proved to be nothing but a farce. Rector Al-Solamy confirmed that this situation reflects the Iranian Government's  reckless approach and complete disregard of international covenants and laws. He added that the Iranian Government, over the past few decades, got used to transgressing the inviolability of diplomatic missions on purpose.

As a result, Rector Al-Solamy affirmed the Kingdom's right to resort to international organizations and the right to take all measures that would guarantee their diplomatic rights in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the provisions of international law.

He called on God to perpetuate our nation's safety and security under our wise leadership, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God preserve them.
