100 high school students will attend the KKU Summer Programming Bootcamp in the College of Computer Science as part of an initiative to train high school students on the fundamentals of computer programming and fluency. The program is sponsored by the Takeoff Institution and will be held over a six week period during the summer of 2018.

The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and the General Supervisor of the program, Dr. Ali Al-Karawi, explained that the bootcamp is based on an intensive educational program that was designed in an integrated manner. It includes tech related socio-cultural aspects which consist of weekly discussion sessions hosted by professionals discussing technology, social media, and entertainment.

Dean Al-Karawi added that the school will honor distinguished students throughout the duration of the course to motivate and encourage exceptional talent. He added that the establishment of a promising generation in the world of programming and software is a primary goal of the program that aims to develop human capital aligned with Vision 2030 and King Khalid University's strategic plan.

King Khalid University, represented by the College of Computer Science, opened the doors to registration for the 6-week summer school programming course which is scheduled to begin on the 10th of Shawwal and end on the 20th of Duhl Qadah. This initiative is sponsored by the Takaful Foundation in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science at the Al-Samir Campus in Abha.

The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Dr. Ali Al-Garawi, explained that the summer school programming course was specially developed for high school students. The program is intended to teach students coding during the vacation, which will spark students to begin programming, establish a basic foundation, and prepare them for computer courses when joining the University. Additionally, this program will allow the University to scout for exceptional computer talents and invest in students interested in software at an early stage.

He added that the University seeks to achieve its goals and actively contribute to the objectives of Vision 2030 and the 2020 National Transformation Program. He further related that this program underscores the commitment to the strategic plan of the University by creating a promising generation of talented programmers.
