His Excellency, the President of King Khalid University (KKU), and the Deputy of the University Council, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al dawood, has headed the second meeting of the council. The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Alsaleh, the KKU Vice - Presidents, schools Deans, supportive deanships, and via the internet attended the deans of girls' colleges who are members in the university council.

President Al dawood inaugurated the meeting, thanking Allah with prayers on the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him (PBUH). After that, the University Vice - President who is also the Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Marea Bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, reviewed the agenda of the meeting, which included the general rules for receiving excellence reward, in addition to discussing a proposal to modify rule 13 in the study and examinations list, Paragraph A, the second item. It was also presented at the meeting, a report of the Saudi organization workshop for accredited residents.

The council reviewed a number of issues and took appropriate resolutions. They are stated in the University Vice - President's statement.

The King Khalid University Vice - President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Majid Al Harbi received yesterday morning, the representatives of the Price Water-house Cooper global company (PwC) which is specialized in health workforce. The representatives were Mr. John Vnlison and Mr. Randa Passion. The visitor were there to discuss how to create a kind of cooperation between the Medical City of the University and the company. In attendance at the occasion was the Executive Director of the Medical City, Dr. Abdullah bin Awad Rafidi.

During the meeting, the attendees discussed the needs of the University Medical City, and the potential to be offered by the company. This is with the consideration of the company being one of the largest professional health services firms in the world since its inception in 1998 AD.

It is worth mentioning that the University Medical City includes all the various medical specialties, plus an integrated university hospital, which is qualified to serve all medical specialties with a capacity of 800 beds. What was mentioned above makes it urgent to hold various professional partnerships with companies like Price Water-house Cooper.

King Khalid University, represented by Computer Science Faculty - Networking and Communications discipline - has conducted seven projects for the first semester of the academic year 1435/1436 AH. The projects contained design, implementation, management and protection works.

The details of the projects are thus; they included a project known as the smart control of consumption capacity to control electrical appliances by turning them on and off wirelessly, so as to reduce electric power consumption of the system, based on the recorded information collected from the smart meter, which sends messages to those who are concerned about the state of the network. In addition to that is another project which sets up a disruption circle on mobile devices, which perturbs cell phones and hinders their operation in non-desirable places. There is also another project provided to track or position location via wireless sensors networks. It enables locating the position of sensor holder wirelessly. This technique is useful in several purposes such as Hajj gatherings, markets and crowded spaces. There was also a project to design, implement, and manage data centers plus protecting them from unwanted accessing, while at the same time ensuring maximum effectiveness and readiness of continuous work even in the time of crash incident.

The university has provided a collaborative detection in radio perceived networks project. Through the project, more than two devices collaborate to discover the extent of filling reciprocating package, thus avoiding confusion on the primary user and the exploitation of the vacant spaces. Moreover, there was a project to design the so called Honey Trap, to protect networks from the attacker by collecting information about the attacker and the tools that can be used during the attack, as well as rectifying weaknesses in the networks protection, if found. Finally, was a projected conduced to design a virtual network that is special for small businesses. The project enables PCs to send and receive data over a shared or public networks as if they are directly connected to the internet, while maintaining the security and the management as a private network.

His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood has signed a number of service contracts, with a number of commercial enterprises, and big pharmaceutical companies. The contracts are worth SR 2,327,375.3, and they are for the purpose of securing the university requirements in a number of areas, and in its various branches in the region.

The signed contracts included a contract to secure the annual order of the Management of Medical service's needs such as drugs. Another one is signed to supply 1,500 seats to the branch of the university in Bisha. Also there are two other contracts signed to secure desalinated water, and drinking water to the university colleges in the provinces of Al-Namas and Sabt Alaya. Finally, there is a contract for construction works to complete the location of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences for Girls in Sarah Obeida.

 It is noteworthy that the duration of the signed contracts ranged from one month to 3 years.

The President of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz thanked His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood for the participation of the university and its efforts in organizing of, and for the successes of the 4th Architectural Heritage Forum, which was held in Asir Province. The prince sent a telegram which was received by the president, in which the prince states, "on the occasion of the conclusion of the Fourth Annual National Forum of Architectural Heritage, which was organized by the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, with outstanding partnership with King Khalid University from 9 to 12 / 2 / 1436 AH, I Thank Your Excellency for your participation in the forum, and we greatly appreciate the University officials' distinctive and fruitful cooperation with the Commission; ss a result of which, the organization of the forum was successful"

It is worth mentioning that the university has embraced the opening of the forum, in addition to the exhibition prepared at the projects that won the Prince Sultan bin Salman Award for Architectural Heritage. Moreover, the university's corner presented - in the Forum accompanied the exhibition - 23 scientific posters containing a number of heritage pictures, inscribed on them some scientific comments, and previous studies conducted on them.

Under the patronage of King Khalid University President Prof. Abdulrahman Aldawood, the Vice Presidency for Development and Quality held a workshop entitled "How to be unique". The workshop targeted 40 academic and administrative leaders in the University. It was presented over the past two days by Dr. Khalid Al-Zamil.

While honoring the participants at the workshop, Aldawood emphasized on transferring the knowledge, skills and experience acquired through that important training program into realistic practices, which will lead university to excellence.

The workshop addressed many themes and identified many concepts associated with the term "Excellence". Such as the concept of excellence, how to build excellence, the concept of competence, competencies-based management system, the difference between competence and skill, identifying the main Excellence competencies, and the methods to satisfy the beneficiaries of the services and the customers.

On this issue, the Vice - President for Development and Quality, Dr. Ahmad bin Yahya Aljbaili stressed that holding that workshop sought to develop communication and teamwork skills, in addition to earning many competencies of excellence, which would help to improve the decision making process, and the development of inner energies inside the students until the university community turns into an integrated environment of excellence.

A student Walid - Al-Tardi - has emerged the 1st place winner in the "University photographer" competition. He received the shield of the competition plus a SR 3000 cash prize. This happened during a celebration to announce the winners of the "University photographer" competition, which was sponsored by the King Khalid University Vice - President Prof. Marrai Hussein Al-Qahtani. The celebration was organized by the Student Affairs Deanship, represented by the Wesal Media Club within the "University photographer" competition in its fourth version. 

In the second place was a student named Muhammad Al-Sedran who received a SR 2000 cash prize, and in the third place came another student named Muhammad Al-Shbrami with a SR 1000 cash prize.

The competition targeted all the students of the university so as to discover and improve their talents in photography. Moreover, the competition determined specific areas for depiction such as the human part, motion and the University.

Selecting the winners depended on three bodies: Asir photography Club Referees Committee under the supervision of the Club President Mr. Ahmed Al-Hader with 70%, the students' voting at the university with 20%, as well as the activation of the role of social networks in voting via Anstagram application with 10%. The number of voting students reached 500, and the voters via Anstagram reached 15, 000. Voting was about 49 participation.

On this regard, the Dean of the Student Affairs Deanship Dr. Merrai Al-Habash stated that the activity was totally organized by the students, and the role of the Deanship was just to supervise. He said, "The Deanship aspires to spread the spirit of teamwork among the students, and help them to acquire enough confidence through participating in such fairs" He added, "Our aim is not just determining the best photographer in the University, but furthermore, we seek to educate the student about the history and the importance of photography"

It is noteworthy that after two days, the location of the fair is going to be transferred to the new headquarter in Asir Mall . The purpose of transferring is to activate the role of community partnership between the university and the society.

In the presence of the Assistant of the University Vice - President for female's colleges, Dr. Kholoud Abu Melha, and a number of colleges' Deans, the university celebrated with its members of the teaching staff - males and females - who have won the Excellence Award. The celebration was organized by the Deanship of Quality and Academic Development last Sunday at Abha Palace Hotel.

Dr. Mimi Alsaeed Ahmed from the College of Arts and Sciences, sarah Obeida won the first place in the Excellence award, university teaching aspect. Dr. Abeer Mohammed Zakaria, from the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences for Girls, Bisha in came in the second place while Dr. Asmaa Fathi Abdel Aziz from the College Arts and Education for Girls, Abha came in the third place.

In the award aspect of distinguished employee, the first place went to Tahani Seif Al-Dosari from the College of Arts and Administration, Bisha. In the second place came Mona Ali Al Khzeim from the Deanship of faculty and staff members, while in the third place came Sharefa Mohamed Ibrahim from the Faculty of Science and Arts for Girls, Mahayal Asir.

In the award for outstanding student, the student - Eman Gherm Al Ayadh - from the Faculty of Medicine won the first place, while Samar Safr Al-Majadah from the Faculty of Science came in the second place. In the third place was Jumana Mohammed Albeili from College of Education, Abha.

In the award for  community service - individuals women - the awards were withheld for both the first and second places. However, Dr. Shanifa Al-Qarni who is the Dean of University Center for girls' study, came in the third place.

In the award for community service - institutions - the first place went to the Girls' Community College, Abha, while the second place was won by the College of Arts and Administration, Bisha. The College of Science and Arts, Belqarn came the third place.

Earlier, the Vice - President of Academic Quality and Development Deanship, Dr. Hessa Al Maloz has stated that the celebration was a reflection of the university's great keenness to honor outstanding employees, as well as students. The action of honoring personnel is a part of a plan by the university to develop the spirit of competition among employees. She added, "The award came to motivate everyone to redouble his or her efforts."

The Vice - President further said, "Award committees paid great attention, and applied all objective standards in choosing the winners. Hence the numerous number of assessment by these committees before announcing the winners."

On this regard, the Dean of Girls Community College in Abha, Dr. Munira Abu Hamama congratulated all winners. She stated, "I thank the university on this move, which is one of the biggest incentives for honest competition in the work, and a step towards innovation in performance."

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud thanked His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood, who congratulated the King on the success of the pilgrimage season of the year 1435 AH. The King sent a telegram to the University President saying, "His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood, the President of King Khalid University: we received your congratulations on the success of the Hajj season for the year 1435 AH, thanks to Allah the gracious. I would like to thank you for your expression of good feelings and for your honest prayers. I pray to Allah the Almighty, to accept our good deeds."

Earlier, the University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood had sent a telegram to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on behalf of himself and the employees of the university. In the telegram, the President sincerely congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on the occasion of the success of this pilgrimage season.

King Khalid University, represented by the Faculty of Dentistry, specifically the "Promising Center" for research and treatments of maxillofacial deformities, has arranged an International cooperation contract on research with the University of Bern, Switzerland. The Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants who is also the Vice - President of Research Center, and the Head of the research division for Dental Implants researches in the Center, Dr. Mohammed Al-Farsi stated that the research was about introducing a new way to install moving fixtures for patients with full dental loss at the same time of implantation, rather than waiting for three months as was done traditionally. He said, "10 world universities will participate in the research, including the Universities of King Abdul Aziz, King Saud from the Kingdom, and the Universities of Bern and Geneva from Switzerland. The research is going to extend for 5 years."

Al-Farsi praised the efforts exerted by the research Director of the center, and the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shahrani, who created a research environment at the highest level in the center to help researchers accomplish such a research.

On this regard, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shahrani thanked His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Hamad Al dawood, the University President, and Dr. Majid Al Harbi the Vice - President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research for cherishing and supporting the research process at the University. He also thanked  Prof. Sami Abdul Wahab who is the Counselor, and Secretary-General of the Research Excellence Centers Secretariat at the Ministry of Higher Education for his continued support of the center.

In conclusion, Al-Shahrani wished success to the research team, which consisted of the following doctors: Mohamed Al-Farsi, Zahir Cota, Mohsen Abdul Qadir, Saud Al-Qahtani, Huda Lutfi, Heba Al-Qarni.
