King Khalid University signed two agreements with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abha. His Excellency the Rector, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, represented the University in the first agreement, and Mr. Hassan M’jeb represented the Chamber of Commerce. The second agreement was with the Administrative and Financial Sciences College, which was represented by Dr. Fayez Awad Al-Dhafra while Mr. Abdullah Al Zahrani represented the Chamber of Commerce.

The items of cooperation are:

  • Provide for cooperation between the two parties in carrying out studies and research.
  • Provide academic, administrative, industrial and technical consultations.
  • Cooperation in training students in private sector establishments and the provision of suitable training packages for the private sector and cooperation in recruiting graduates in the labor market.
  • Provide the required support for Scientific Research Chairs and Care Programs at the university.
  • Study and develop ideas for investment projects established under the umbrella of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Support research projects at specialized research centers in the university.
  • Hold various joint events including workshops, conferences, seminars, and exhibitions.
  • Cooperation on the establishment, management, and operation of small business incubators.
  • Cooperation in the procedural development of an educational program to grant bona fide stakeholders of the Chamber of Commerce an MBA in the fields of entrepreneurship, human resources, and strategic planning.

In his speech, the Dean of the Institute of Research and Consultations at the King Khalid University, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Hadithi, said that the positive changes and ambitious initiatives our blessed country is witnessing prove that the two parties need to strengthen their relationship. He explained that this relationship has multiple benefits for both sides as university education is the primary source of knowledge and science, and the private sector is concerned with the commercial and industrial application of the outputs of the university.

Al-Hadithi added that this agreement would maximize cooperation when conducting further studies and research, providing consultation and collaboration in training students, and preparing them for the labor market in addition to facilitating the recruitment of graduates in private sector institutions.

Under the patronage of His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al- Solamy, the Faculty of Dentistry in cooperation with the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) held the 11th Scientific Meeting of Intern Dentists. The forum took place at Abha Palace Hotel in a vivid session that saw over 45 submitted pieces of research.

On the occasion, Rector Al-Solamy expressed his happiness with the communities of practice attending the meeting. He also said that it is necessary to maintain adequate supervision of the students and their scientific research, which would serve the University and the region in general. Rector Al-Solamy further emphasized that the initiative of the Dentistry College to host and invite the leading distinguished bodies in scientific research in the field of dentistry is a step that deserves praise and appreciation. He said, “Students who perform research are the pillars of academic excellence." Rector Al-Solamy added that corroboration among scientific researchers is an essential priority for the university, and in fact, the establishment of this meeting is central to the university's objectives in supporting scientific research. At the end of his speech, Rector Al-Solamy thanked the students, researchers, and all those responsible for their participation. He hopes that the findings will be published in leading scientific journals.

In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Ibrahim Al Shahrani, thanked the Rector of the University for his unwavering support to the college in all of its activities. The purpose is to give the participants a chance to explore their research competencies through competition. Also, the scientific meetings encourage specialists to work outside the academic requirements. Dr. Ibrahim Al Shahrani pointed out that the Dentistry Faculty is cooperating with the World Association for Dental Research this year, represented by the IADR Saudi Division. This division seeks to improve the quantity and quality of research in order to take part in skill development and raise the scientific-practical capabilities of interns. There were 45 research submissions, 20 from male doctors and 25 from female doctors­­.

At the end of the meeting, the Rector honored the best three research submissions of male intern doctors, as well as the best three research submissions for female intern doctors. He also honored the best researcher of the two sections, in addition to honoring the first three supervisors on research.

King Khalid University Spokesman, Dr. Abdullah Hamed, confirmed that the monetary awards for students who have been nominated in the month of January were transferred from the university bank account and are expected to be deposited in student bank accounts within the next few hours. The delay occurred as a result of the approval process in accordance with the Gregorian calendar salary disbursements under the aegis of royal directives. Furthermore, all student awards are in accordance with the guidance to be received from the Ministry of Finance in this regard.

As for “Absence with Excuse Ratio,” Dr. Hamed confirmed that although the University is restricted to the established guidelines, there is room for exceptional cases. Specifically, all College Councils have the authority to remove all cases of deprivation and allow the student to enter exams provided that the student presents an acceptable excuse. The University Council reiterates that the attendance rate is not to be more than 50% -- of acceptable excuses -- specific to any course. Dr. Hamed noted that the University takes into account fundamentals student needs and actively seeks to meet them in accordance with all applicable regulations.

After Election Results Affirmation by the Rector

His Excellency Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, Rector of King Khalid University, congratulated the winners of the elections of the Saudi Scientific Association for Teachers (SST), "Jassem," which has been recently organized by the University.

Al-Solamy said, "The University is pleased to have such a critically important scientific association serving to enrich the scientific atmosphere of all colleges.” He further emphasized that the new association would receive all possible support to promote its increasingly influential work in service of the educational process. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa, who approved the establishment and launch of the association.

The elections of the Saudi Scientific Association for Teachers have resulted in the victory of Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Kasi, as the President, Mohammed bin Zaidan bin Mahfouz, as the Vice-President and Financial Officer, and Sultan bin Saleh Al-Shehri, Director of Education at the Mohayil Asir Governorate, as the Secretary of the Board. Moreover, association members were also elected. They are Dr. Aisha Bint Belhish Al Amri, Taibah University, Mr. Mohammed Al-Fayfi, Department of Education - Sabyia Province, Ms. Aisha Bint Said Al-Harthy, Department of Education - Taif Province, and Ms. Maryam Bint Abdullah Khairi,  Department of Education - Taif Province.

In his speech, the President of the Association, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Kasi, related that the spatial diversity of the members in the Council and the representation of teachers through more than half of the members of the Council is a positive aspect. He indicated that the next phase of the SST would be launched -- God willing -- in accordance with an integrated plan of action taking into account the objectives of the SST. Finally, Dr. Al-Kasi thanked the University Rector who has been with SST since its approval and directed to start preparing plans and appropriate scenarios for the work of the association, serving teachers who, in his opinion, play an immensely important role in the educational and scientific process for students in the Kingdom Saudi Arabia.

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at King Khalid University is opening the doors to admission into the master and doctorate programs for the next academic year 1439/1440 AH. Applying will be possible through the university website starting from Sunday, 4 Jumada I 1439 AH to 17 Jumada II 1439 AH.

In his speech, the Dean of Graduate Studies at the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Fa’e, stated that admission is available to students who wish to enroll in postgraduate studies at the University in more than 30 Master and Doctoral degree programs. He announced that a number of new programs were approved for this year. Dr. Al-Fa’e said that admission is possible to more than 20 master’s degree programs in the Faculties of Sharia and Religion, Education, Humanities, Science, Languages and Translation, and Administrative and Financial Sciences.  Regarding doctoral degree programs, he said that they are available in only three faculties, namely the Faculty of Sharia and the Fundamentals of Religion, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Humanities.

Dr. Al-Fa’e further asked the applicants to be aware of admission dates, admission requirements, University portal submission procedures, in addition to the procedural guide for electronic admission.  Dr. Al-Fa’e noted that the first stage of acceptance is specific to academic programs while prepaid programs will be announced shortly in the next two months. He indicated that the Deanship is currently strategically coordinating with the faculties of the University to develop numerous world-class graduate programs, which would meet the needs of the scientific community and the labor market while maintaining consistency in all phases of academic development and quality.
