His Excellency the Rector of King Khalid University, Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, convened the fifth meeting of the University Council for the current academic year 1439H. The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Interim Committee, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh,  to carry out the functions assigned to the Council of Higher Education. The meeting was also attended by the University Vice-Presidents, Deans, Supportive Deanships, and the Deans of female campuses who are council members.

Al-Solamy opened the session by thanking God and sending prayers and salutations to the Messenger of Allah (S). Later, the University Vice-President of Graduate Studies and Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Saad Al-Omari, reviewed the topics of the session on the agenda.

The University Vice-President for Graduate Studies, Dr. Saad Al-Omari, stated that the members of the council approved the strategic plan of the University in 2018-2020. Equally important, they further recommended adopting the correction of the list of scientific departments within the structure of the Faculty of Medicine. Lastly, they reviewed the renewal of contracts for numerous faculty members and the appointment of nine lecturers.

His Excellency, the President of King Khalid University (KKU), and the Deputy of the University Council, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al dawood, has headed the second meeting of the council. The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Alsaleh, the KKU Vice - Presidents, schools Deans, supportive deanships, and via the internet attended the deans of girls' colleges who are members in the university council.

President Al dawood inaugurated the meeting, thanking Allah with prayers on the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him (PBUH). After that, the University Vice - President who is also the Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Marea Bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, reviewed the agenda of the meeting, which included the general rules for receiving excellence reward, in addition to discussing a proposal to modify rule 13 in the study and examinations list, Paragraph A, the second item. It was also presented at the meeting, a report of the Saudi organization workshop for accredited residents.

The council reviewed a number of issues and took appropriate resolutions. They are stated in the University Vice - President's statement.

His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, who is also the Vice - President of the University Council, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood has inaugurated the third meeting of the University Council for the academic year 1435 - 1436 AH. The inauguration took place at the University Council venue in the University City in Abha, and in the presence of Secretary General of Council of Higher Education Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz Alsaleh, University Vice - Presidents, Deans and other high ranking officials from different Deanships.

In the meeting, His Excellency the University President congratulated Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al-Sabti, who has recently been nominated as the Minister for Higher Education. The President wished him luck, and prayed to God to inspire him with success. Moreover, the President specially thanked and His Excellency Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al-Angari, and appreciated his great and sincere efforts for higher education in general, and for King Khalid University in particular, during his tenure as the minister of Higher Education and as a president to the University Council.

After that, the Board discussed a number of topics on the agenda, including: performance report, King Khalid University indicators for the academic year 1434 - 1435 AH, and modification of the resolution of establishing the Department of Management and Educational Supervision at the College of Education to grant Masters and Ph.D. degrees. In its third meeting, the Council discussed also the acceptance of a fund raising to the University from Arabesque Engineering Consultancy Office, estimated to SR 4 million, and from Al-Rashed company with an estimate of SR 1 million, in addition to asking for sabbatical for a number of faculty members, and ending the scholarship period for a number of the University scholars.

The council also agreed to attract a number of scholars who were beneficiaries of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques's scholarship program. In addition, the council members agreed to employ a number of lecturers, as well as a number of faculty members of the rank of Assistant Professor.

King Khalid University Council approved the number of students who are expected to be admitted next year (1435-1436 AH). Council also approved the amendments made to some curricula, while some were returned to be revised and studied.

This took place last Wednesday during the 8thmeeting of Council, headed by the President of King Khalid University.

Al-Dawood started the meeting by thanking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and His Highness, the Crown Prince, Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, and the Crown Deputy, for the Royal Decree establishing the University of Bisha, which is considered great support to the sector of Higher Education.

During the meeting, they stressed harnessing all possibilities, capabilities, and expertise of King Khalid University to serve Bisha University, and cooperation bridges that should remain ongoing between the two universities.

They all appreciated the honoring and patronage of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Asir region, Faisal Bin Khalid, to the graduation ceremony for the academic year 1434-1435AH. Council also congratulated alumni students and their parents waiting for their contribution in the development process.  

The Secretary of Council reviewed some listed issues. They agreed to handle the status of two of the university scholars.

To increase communication with international universities and research centers, and to exchange experiences and expertise, Council approved the dispatch of Dr. Yahya Bin Hussein Al-Khalidi from the Faculty of Medicine to a training course in Canada.

Council also approved the renewal of the contracts of three faculty members for the academic year 1435- 1436 AH in order to benefit from their experience.


His Excellency the university President, Professor Abdulrahman Bin Hamid Al-Dawood headed the university Council 6th Meeting which was held on Tuesday 10/5/1435 AH at 11.00 O’clock in the morning.

His Excellency the university President started the meeting by praising Allah and praying on prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him. After that the secretary of the Council went through topics prepared on the agenda starting with briefing  the university council with resolutions taken by the university President and authorized by the council.

Within the university desire to develop the academic field and plan it according to scientific and strategic basis, the council advised approving the strategic plan of the university in its first stage. The Council members valued efforts exerted by the University Presidency for Development and Quality in this field. Also, The council advised establishing English Language center at Bishah governorate.

Within the interaction with international universities and research centers, the university council approved a sabbatical for Dr. Faqeh Al-Rabi in Australia and sending Dr. Adel Al-Shehri, Medicine college to get training in Canada.  

Within the university communication with governmental sites and ministries, the council approved the assignment of Dr. Mona Al Thabta to work at King Abdul Aziz Dar. The council also approved to extend mandating Dr. Abdulrahman Faseel to work in Cultural Attaché, Malaysia.    

Finally, in the field of benefiting the experienced teaching staff, the university council approved signing a contract with Professor Yahia Autef and to renew the contract with 20 over age members to work at the university for the current year 1435/1436 AH.

The Secretary General, Dr. Hamood Bin Mubarak Al- Zoheir stated what mentioned above.
