King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Graduate Studies, is announcing the extension of receiving research abstracts for the Conference of 'Graduate Studies in Saudi Universities: Reality and Developmental Prospects' in the current academic year.

The Dean of Graduate Studies and Chairman of the Conference Scientific Committee, Dr. Ahmed bin Yahia Al Faye, has clarified that the conference will cover several topics. Among them are the management of graduate studies in Saudi universities, management methods of graduate studies: obstacles and solutions, admission criteria of graduate studies, the unified list of graduate studies and their executive conditions in universities, and organizational structure and academic units concerned with graduate studies in universities.

Additionally, the conference also includes two main themes based on administrative procedures and the academic system, in addition to graduate studies in Saudi universities: scientific and research prospects. Dr. Ahmed bin Yahia Al Faye asserts that the "Learning outcomes in graduate programs, study plans, scientific content, scientific theses and their assessment will be covered in the theme of graduate studies in Saudi universities: scientific and research prospects. Moreover, the themes will also discuss scientific research with innovation, scientific research with development and graduate studies, and scientific research in light of Vision 2030 including the National Transformation Program." While commenting on another conference theme, he said, " The physical component and the professional dimension of graduate studies in Saudi universities will handle the academic environment as well as the academic and developmental profession of the faculty member in addition to learning resources, their methods, and the application of quality standards in graduate studies". 

Dr. Al Faye added that the conference seeks to achieve a number of objectives; including encouraging scientific research on graduate education, monitoring the reality of graduate studies' programs in Saudi universities both governmental and private, and developing practical solutions to some of the phenomena and problems faced by graduate programs.

In the same context, the conference also aims to strengthen the policies related to graduate studies and scientific research and open the areas of coordination, cooperation, and integration between Saudi universities. In addition, the other objectives of the conference are setting frameworks for the development of graduate studies' programs in Saudi universities; which corresponds with the National Transformation Program and benefits from international experts and experiences in preparing as well as developing such programs. The conference also seeks to achieve integration between Saudi universities in the field of graduate studies' research, to open new channels for research that helps the university to fulfill its role in serving the community and in attaining development, and to enable the beneficiary bodies from these programs' output in evaluating them.

The number of the applicants for graduate studies programs of the academic year 1438/1439 AH have reached 3145 students, in different disciplines, distributed as follows: 993 applicant for doctorate program; 686 applicants of them are male and 307 are female, 2152 applicants for bachelor program; 824 of them are male and 1328 are female.

For his part, the Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Ahmed Yahia Al Fay'e has announced that the admission portal of graduate studies was closed last Saturday at 12.00 pm.  Dean Al Fay'e added that the admission was available via the deanship's portal for three weeks starting from 26/3/1438 AH. Admission was available for 30 doctorate and bachelor programs. Admission process has proceeded easily and simply. The Dean further confirmed that the Graduate Studies Deanship published a number of brochures abut admission, its procedures, how to apply, available disciplines, rules and conditions. The deanship also provided a help desk service on the clock through various communication channels which answered all the applicants' questions which were related to the admission process.

Dr. Alfay'e clarified that the applicant should complete his/her admission procedures by sending a file of his/her documents to the mean college then the departments will carry out examinations based on adopted and earlier-announced standards. Results of These examinations are going to be announced later on the KKU portal.

The Dean of Graduate Studies at King Khalid University (KKU), Dr. Ahmed bin Yahya Al Fa'e, has revealed that the Deanship had sought hard, during the past years, to open graduate studies programs for masters and doctoral degrees. The number of the available programs has reached 52 programs till the end of this year. The programs are in various scientific and humanity disciplines. During the past five years, the scientific production of graduate studies students was more than a thousand arbitrated dissertation in a variety of disciplines, multiple themes, and contemporary societal issues.

The Dean of the Graduate Studies, Dr. Al Fa'e, said that those in charge of King Khalid University since its inception to the present day had worked consistently to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership of this blessed country in spreading higher education and in contributing to support the process of scientific research and community service. Dr. Al Fa'e pointed out that the number of studies that were about Asir region exceeded 200 dissertations, included educational disciplines, the Arabic language, history, geography, chemistry, biology, and others.

Dr. Al Fa'e further confirmed that the Deanship of Graduate Studies at King Khalid University was striving hard like other deanships and colleges of the university, to contribute positively to achieving the vision of the Kingdom (Vision 2030). The deanship is following all the emerging local and international graduate studies programs. Moreover, it looks forward to updating its current programs, as well as adding other programs that are compatible with future development plans, so as to meet the needs of the community and the requirements of the labor market.
