On behalf of His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, His Excellency, the Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Saad Al-Amri, sponsored the closing ceremony of the First Theater Festival for Saudi universities. The ceremony took place in the Lasan Theatre and was attended by those who participated in the activities of the festival.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Vice-President thanked the His Excellency, the Rector of the University, for hosting the festival. He also thanked those who were in charge of the event and the delegations of the participating universities, expressing his vision of future festivals being arranged on a permanent basis.

The ceremony also included a video presentation entitled "Hopes and Expectations" in addition to a presentation on the collection of all performances completed by the participants.

Following after, the sponsor of the event honored the judges of the ceremony, the guests and the heads of delegations, as well as the participants in the symposia that accompanied the festival. The Arbitration Committee also presented the Esteemed Testimony in Acting Award to student Omar Qadi for his role in the play "Coffin" presented by Taif University. The King Saud University Theater Team also obtained a Certificate of Excellence for Decoration Design in the play of “Almkason.” In script writing, Playwright, Khaled Al-Shariati, obtained a Certificate of Excellence for his role as an arbitrator.

Actor Sultan Al-Ghamdi from Jeddah University won the Best Scenography Award for "Don Quixote on Snape Shot," while the Third Best Actor Award went to Abdulwahab Al-Ahmari for his role in the play "Beyond the Darkness" of King Khalid University. Artist, Fahed Al-Tala, received the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in King Khalid University's performance. Actor, Bader Al-Ghamdi, won first place, for his role in the play "Coffin" from the University of Taif.

The Best Theatrical Script Award went to Mr. Fahad Al-Harthy, for his script "The Station does not Leave" by Jazan University. Mr. Mesad Al-Zahrani won the Best Theater Director Award for directing the play, “Coffin,” by Taif University. In the Best Collective Show Category, King Faisal University achieved the Arbitrators Prize in this field.

As for the festival's main prizes, the play "Beyond the Dark" by King Khalid University won the Bronze Kasbah for the Best Stage Performance. Jeddah University achieved the Silver Kasbah for the play “Don Quixote on Snape Shot." The Golden Kasbah went to the Taif University for the play "Coffin."

The Chairman of the Judges Committee, Mr. Mohamed Mafraq, announced at the end of the festival a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the extension of the duration of the festival in its second edition so that only two shows will be held per day. The committee also recommended the establishment of a secretariat for the festival under the umbrella of King Khalid University. They further asserted that the theatrical renaissance must continue to take place within the universities, through the creation of theater competitions between colleges within each university.

Yesterday, King Khalid University 2nd Summer Festival Was launched, amid heavy presence of Asir region people and visitors. The Festival lasts until the 21st of this month.

Before launching, King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Dawoud has stood on all preparations, equipment the Festival needs. His Excellency made a round on the Exhibitions Hall, where he met a number of governmental and private organizations that are participating in the festival.

All the following bodies have participated in the Festival: the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the General Directorate for Combating Drugs, the Saudi Customs, the Architecture of the Two Holy Mosques, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the National Initiative "God gives you its Goodness", in addition to the participation of the Saudi Society for Fine Arts, Asir branch and the Tamnia Heritage Museum, the Cooperative Office for Dawaa and Guidance, the Geological Survey Board, and the Saudi Telecom Company (Zain).

 In this regard, King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Dawoud clarified that after a year of the first successful summer festival, which was held by the university,  we intend to establish the second Festival full of all what is new and useful for both the people of the region and its visitors. He said, "This Festival of this year(1435 AH) appears in a new version, which is expected, God willing, to meet the aspirations of all the family members, residents and visitors in a diversity that reflects the University vision believing in the importance of leadership and sponsorship of the concept of educational tourism in Asir. "

Al-Dawoud added that the festival is under the patronage of the Prince of the Asir region, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz to reflect the size of the community partnership, which the university activate with the community. He pointed out that the university is keen to create a different, unique summer this year by offering more than 100 varied shows during the festival days.

The festival included many training, sportive courses, and entertainment programs, theater activities, poetry evenings, sportive and cultural competitions, and child, in addition to the special events for women. The visitors of the Festival have their own space by offering daily prizes that estimated to more than SR150 thousand, in addition to the grand prize, which is a car and they will announce the winner at the closing ceremony of the festival.

It is noteworthy that the first day witnessed arranging a number of activities, such as a show of the skills of civil defense men, two courses in the seven habits for the most effective people, methods of mixing color and free drawings for children, a variety of sports tournaments in Swimming, Soccer, Table Tennis, as well as launching episode 17 of the program God gives you is goodness, which will be broadcasted live from the location of the festival at eight o'clock in the evening.

King Khalid University 2nd Summer Festival witnessed on Tuesday launching "God gives you its Goodness" campaign for safe driving by providing three "Ford Fusion Cars ", which were delivered  to three drivers who finished the first season of the program without committing any traffic violation.

Ahmed Bin Damas, The interviewer of "God gives you its goodness" program, which is broadcasted on the first channel in conjunction with the sports channel and Radio Jeddah and presented by Salah Al-Ghedan, said that there will be entire episode of the program will be about King Khalid University 2nd Summer Festival from the Headquarters of the festival at the university this evening (Tuesday) at 8:30 pm.

The episode will have open discussion with people about safe driving, as well as interviews with officials in the region. Additionally, there will be a questionnaire about the reasons for the fearsome increasing numbers of incidents in the Kingdom.

Damas confirmed that the episode will witness launching the campaign of "God gives you its Goodness" for safe driving with the participation of the campaign volunteering team and the Disabled Children's Association, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic, as well as the full support of the Asir region Emirate.

He stressed that the campaign targets all segments of society, especially young people, aged from 15 to 25 years, because they are the most affected group by this problem, as the percentage reached about 75%, either by death, injury or various disabilities.

He said, "We want to be here in the festivals of King Khalid University because we know that they witness a large gathering of people, and we also desire to be achieve the desired goal of the campaign.

He also pointed out that the campaign will be introduced through accidents causes and how to be safe. The introduction will be presented by specialists in the field of traffic safety. Damas revealed that there will be some women participations to clarify their role in raising awareness of this issue, as well as the participation of a number of disabled people. During the episode, awareness brochures will be distributed, as well as Gifts for safe driving by the volunteer team.

King Khalid University obtained six advanced places in the 5th Scientific Conference for students in the Higher Education in the Kingdom.

Uhood Amer Al-Shahrani, a student at King Khalid University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Bisha obtained the Golden Feather in the field of documentary films.

At the same branch, Abdullah Khalid Alfaifi, a student of the Faculty of Pharmacy won the 5th place. The 4th place in the competition of recitation and rhetoric went to Mefreh Bin Ali Al Dawas, a student of the Faculty of Medicine. In the field of engineering research in Graduate Studies Degree, Mona Abdullah Marei Al Dale, a student of College of Science in Abha won the 6th place. Hanan Ahmed Mohammed Albargi from the College of Arts and Sciences, Mahayel Asir obtained the 9th place in the field Engineering Research (stickers).

Jawaher Ahmed Mohammed Al-Amari, a student from the Faculty of Science, Abha achieved the 6th place in the field of Engineering Research. From the same college and field, Khadija Yahya Ahmed Ateef obtained the 3rd place.

In this regard, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mera' Saad Al -Habash clarified that the conference is a reflection of the scientific mobility, research efforts, and the remarkable development that pass by the university. He explained that their ambition is greater than achieving  higher places worth the university and the capacity of its students.

It is worth mentioning that the conference has witnessed this year the largest number of recorded participations. They reached 17024 participations presented by more than 20 thousand students. The students presented their research and creations through the keynote themes of the conference which are Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Health Sciences, Basic Sciences, Engineering , and the Humanities.
