The convoy of science and knowledge begins a new journey in our precious country amidst an atmosphere of safety and security. The golden opportunities provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to help students excel in various sciences in a world-class educational environment shows no signs of slowing down. The excellent vision of our nation continues to encourage citizens of this blessed country actively.

While the wise leadership acts with the hand of support and love in the grasp of wisdom and firmness outward through the positions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, that is known to all, it always stands on the side of brothers and the vulnerable everywhere, with support, advocacy, and relief.

Since the happy is the one who learns from other's mistakes, we need to contemplate on the devastating changes that other countries are going through from the societal destruction of wars and the ravages of sedition and compare them with the grace and prosperity that we are enjoying. These blessings compel us to thank God and require us to fulfill the aspirations of our visionary leadership. The nation is a great blessing. As a result, we should be aware of the attempts of our enemies who are continuously trying to drag this blessed country towards the evil plots of their sick hearts.

Al Solamy: I whisper to my students that there are some of their peers in other nations who genuinely wish to complete their studies and achieve their dreams but the sound of bullets, the rowdiness of sedition and the loss of security kill all their ambitions

My message today to my sons and daughters is to remind them of the grace of safety and security that we enjoy in the shadow of this country. On the threshold of the new year, I whisper to my students that there are some of their peers in other nations who genuinely wish to complete their studies and achieve their dreams but the sound of bullets, the rowdiness of sedition and the loss of security kill all their ambitions. Your country has provided you with all things that would help you to achieve your hopes and dreams. So, exceed the expectations of your country, and do not listen to the foul calls and plots that seek to destroy the safe scientific atmosphere that you are enjoying. These wicked plans also want to devastate the vast economic opportunities that are destined for you. For that, I urge you to stand with your country, and look forward with joy and hope in the coming days, and be confident that the future of your country is your future. You need to remember as you are in the classroom obtaining knowledge, that there are those who are looking to you and waiting for your scientific achievements. So, be the great gifts that you give to your mothers, fathers, brothers and loved ones because your successes and accomplishments are the most beautiful gifts that you can give to them. It is also the reward that my colleagues, faculty members, staff members and I expect from you. We are working for you, as part of a sustained effort to ensure your success continues, and that your bright futures never dim.

At the beginning and at the end, my appreciation and respect go to all of my colleagues working in the university. They instill pride and satisfaction when I see or hear about their the efforts and achievements, whether they know or do not know about it. On this occasion, I would like to remind them of that they are on a noble mission, and what they are doing today will result in blessings in their lives, deeds, and future generations. On the journey of knowledge, we are on the road towards Jannah by God's Will as Prophet Mohammed Peace Be Upon Him said, "Allah makes the way to Jannah easy for him who treads the path in search of knowledge." In this prophetic vision, we see words come to life because knowledge has helped the oppressed and healed patients in record time for the sake of all humanity. For that, I congratulate you (the seekers) of knowledge 'May God help you in your journeys.' Finally, I pray to God to protect our country from all evils and ask Him to help the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Crown Prince to preserve the blessings of security and prosperity for this blessed country.

His Excellency stressed that the efficiency of both education and training is one of the great points of Vision 2030. His Excellency asserted that the Commission will be one of the main bodies to ensure the achievement of world-class quality education and training due to the link between its core functions (assessment/measurement/accreditation) and academic development and quality throughout all stages of work (planning, implementation, and assessment).

Al Sabti: The efficiency of both education and training is one of the great points of Vision 2030.

He also explained the importance of the National Center for Academic Assessment and Accreditation which is affiliated with the Education Assessment Commission. He related that in this crucial historical stage we have witnessed a significant number of variables, foremost of which is the massive expansion in governmental university education. He explained the Commission's keenness to enable the Center to create a comprehensive review to quality and accreditation standards. Moreover, the Commission aims at developing a working model with the features of continuity and reasonable costs. The working model is expected to achieve the objectives of the Center and enhance its impact in our university institution. As a result, the quality of outputs in connection with the requirements of development in the Kingdom and the labor market, will benefit from a system of key performance indicators and data-driven measures that will be fully integrated with relevant governmental and organizational departments.

For his part, the Executive Director of the National Center for Assessment and Academic Accreditation, Dr. Ahmed bin Yahya Al-Jubaili, said that the accreditation process depends on verifying that the institutions/programs meet the requirements of the Center for academic accreditation in conjunction with the self-study report. Resultantly, the Center will be able to form teams of experts for the field review of these institutions/programs. National and foreign experts will review the self-study and relevant documents of the institution or program in question, in addition to paying field visits to all the institution's facilities and programs, interviewing all that may concern. The process ends with the preparation of a report supported by evidence about what was concluded during the assessments.

Later, the institution is going to initiate a work plan in which the institution will show to what extent it followed the reviewers' recommendations. Based on the reviewers' report and the submitted work plan and the report of the accreditation review committee, the institution or the program will have a decision on the obtainment of the academic accreditation certificate that determines the level and duration of the accreditation.

Dr. Al-Jubaili explained that the steps of assessment and academic accreditation are as follows:

  • Check the eligibility of the institution/program to apply for accreditation.
  • Check the self-study preparation.
  • Field visit for external assessment.
  • Study the work plan of the institution/program for the recommendations of the external visit team.
  • Presentation of reports to the Advisory Accreditation Committee.
  • Declaration of accreditation.

  • Conducting assessment after seven years.

In conclusion, His Excellency Dr. Al-Sabti and Dr. Al-Jubaili congratulated the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy and all employees of KKU on achieving accreditation.
