His Royal Highness, Deputy Governor of the Asir Region, Prince Mansour bin Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, asserted that the completion of the new university city project would be his priority. He added that the university is full of groundbreaking scientific competencies and includes thousands of male and female students. He also praised the university’s significant role with the Emirate of Asir and with other governmental institutions highlighting the university's considerable support to the emirate and expressing his pride in its expertise.
At the same time, he pointed to the remarkable achievements made by the university in the buildings of the university city, stressing that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, are keen to support the advancement of science and knowledge seekers. HRH also revealed his optimism about the new university city which will provide an excellent academic and scientific environment in a location which the university succeeded in choosing because it matches all the building requirements and simultaneously preserves the beautiful nature of the area in which the project is located. In addition, he clarified that the university hospital with its unique building would be a great addition to health services in the region.

From the University President’s view, His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Falah bin Raja Allah Al Solamy, expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Governor of the Asir Region for his blessed and encouraging visit, stressing that the support received by the Governor of the Asir Region, HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid and his Deputy, HRH Prince Mansour Bin Muqrin, reflects positively on the academic environment. He added the harmony between the emirate and the university is in the interest of the region's citizens.
His Excellency mentioned that during HRH's visit to the University City, he was keen to inquire about many points related to the project and its various details such as the structures of the buildings, and some of his visions for the next stage.
In His Royal Highness's visit, he toured a number of university facilities, where he saw the general administration building, the university tower, the central library, the university hospital, the support services tunnel and the conference center. During that time, he listened to a detailed explanation of the project, its stages and its obstacles presented by the Vice-Dean of Projects, Dr. Mohammed bin Dahim, who pointed out that the university city is an area of (8 million) square meters and is located at an altitude of 2185 meters above sea level.
It includes a number of academic and service complexes, which are being implemented in three phases. The first includes the academic student complex, which contains 13 scientific and literary colleges. The second phase consists of the medical campus for students in addition to the University Hospital with a capacity of 800 beds. Lastly, the third phase initiates the building of the university administration, guest area, sports city, sports stadium, closed sports hall and infrastructure projects like the service tunnel and service centers, which have been completed, along with a number of other ongoing projects such as the internal roads, student housing, medical staff housing, and the Medicine College for females.
Dr. Mohammed also indicated that nearly 70% of the actual project completion had been done. Noting that some projects have been completed entirely. He stressed the need for financial support in the implementation, designation, and approval of the necessary projects, which are set to run the university city; such as power station, the northern and eastern ring roads, the rainwater drainage system, furnishing the faculties of the first stage and faculty members housing. In the same regard, he explained the urgent need for public services such as the roads leading to the project, organizing the areas surrounding the university city, water supply for the area and completion of the sewage station in the area.
The Governor of Asir region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, has addressed his graduating sons from King Khalid University (KKU), saying "your service at any place and in any town or village across this country is an unmatched honour, to build and to defend the homeland, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - the king of the determination and firmness - and his two great supporting young men - His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, the Crown Prince, and His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Crown Prince." This assertion came in the speech which was delivered by His Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid - the Governor of Asir region - at the graduation ceremony of 18th batch of students, totaling of 10,633, male and female combined.
During he ceremony, His Royal Highness called for achieving the 2030 vision.
In the address, His Highness - the Governor - called on the graduating students to contribute in achieving the comprehensive and integrated vision, which is prepared as the largest development plan in the history of the Kingdom. His Highness stressed that that vision made them more satisfied with the present situation of the country and its future, and that they had stronger determination to achieve its goals under the wise leadership of King Salman and his able supporters. His Royal Highness - the Governor - finally called on the graduates to stick to official doctrines, and to be careful of any foreign influences.
His excellency was received, upon arrival at the sports stadium in Mahalh, by the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, and the members of the University Council, as well as a number of University employees. Immediately after his arrival to the venue of the ceremony, His Royal Highness - the Governor - witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University and the Al Riyadh newspaper. The University was represented at the Signing by the adviser and spokesman of the University, the General Supervisor of Media Centre - Mr. Fahd bin Nomeh, while Riyadh newspaper was represented by its editor, Mr. Sulaiman bin Turki Al-Osaimi.
The Rector of KKU, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, delivered a speech in which he welcomed His Royal Highness, the Governor of Asir region, who was the sponsor of the event, all attendees of virtue and Excellency, and the parents of graduating students, saying, "I welcome your Excellency's presence as a supportive and encouraging honorable gesture, and greetings to the audience present at the graduation ceremony of this constellation of our University students, sharing their joy your Excellency, is the supportive and encouraging forward-looking moment, and here are your children making you glad by their graduation and by their excellence, and that they promise you to be the base of goodness and blessing in the process of the development of their generous homeland."
Rector Al Dawood congratulated the parents of the graduating students for reaping the fruit of the hard work of their children, saying "I congratulate you for these children's fruits of diligence, they will serve their religion, their homeland and their rulers, so thank you for raising up your children well, and for educating them well, in order to achieve your objective."
Al Dawood to the students: "I boast of you the near and the far, and we congratulate ourselves and the nation because of you, and we congratulate you for your homeland and its wise leadership."
Rector Al Dawood delivered a word for the graduating students through which he expressed his overwhelming happiness because of that glorious day and said, "I boast of you the near and the far, and we congratulate ourselves and the nation because of you, and we congratulate you for your homeland and for its wise leadership, who has given you all the opportunities, and who supported you, so you should reciprocate to your homeland with honesty and sincerity." His Excellency the Rector added, "Be a good example in your community so the homeland advances because of you, you are our hope and our promise, so be as much as the aspirations of our king, King Salman - the king of firmness and determination. You are the hope of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques (may Allah protect him) in achieving the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2030, and beware of the people of deviant thought, and follow moderation, because it is one of the doctrines of your true religion, and have trust in your leadership and support them against the enemies of religion, of the homeland and of intellect. You are the real fuel for the journey of this generous country. "
His Excellency the Rector concluded his speech by praising Allah - Almighty - and by thanking our wise leadership, as well as His Royal Highness - the Governor of Asir region. He also thanked the employees of the university, all parents, all those in attendance, the organizers of the ceremony, and the General Presidency for Youth Welfare for their cooperation in hosting the celebration. Finally, and as always, the Rector reminded the audience that in that joy, they must not forget their brothers - soldiers stationed on the boarder, saying "we should pray for them that may Allah grant them victory, and may He support them, we shall pray for the mercy of Allah on the martyrs and we shall pray for the healing the wounded. We pray to Allah to perpetuate the grace of this nation and its security in light of our wise leadership".
Next, was time for a scene by fathers who were working in the state sector. They clarified that during those years they worked for religion, for the King, and for the nation. They explained that they had served the country in various fields and now it is your - the graduating students - responsibility.
Then, the Dean of Admissions and Registration, at KKU, Dr. Sultan Al Farah, announced the final result of the graduates and congratulated all of them, appreciating their association with the Deanship since joining the university until today, wishing them a bright future. Dr. Al Farah explained that the number of all graduating students of the year reached 10,633 students, of whom 905 students are of diploma program, while the number of Bachelor degree students reached 8,278. In high studies, the number reached 600 students who got the master's degree, and 79 students received a doctorate degree. The number of the graduates of the educational Diploma was 500 students. Dr. Al Farah further said, "let me out of here, and proudly, spread the word and scatter roses, and congratulate the hope of tomorrow and the stars of our bright university, the university of excellence and leadership, the insistence and determined university, which we all seek to reach the top".
Dr. Al Farah stressed that the Admission and Registration Deanship accompanied the students in the step by step successful trip they made to themselves and to their homeland since the receipt of the acceptance decision until the receipt of the graduation certificates, during which the services of the Deanship were provided through more than 250 e-Services, and through a number of means of official and social media. Dr. Al Farah concluded by saying, "set off to the field of spacious work vigorously, and be the best ambassadors of your university, and give this great country something in return".
After that everyone watched a movie about a graduate student trip, directed by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Kaabi. The scenario was by Dr. Nasser Komishan, and the starring was by the student - Abdulrahman Qthomh. The idea of the film was about a diligent student moved from secondary school to university level. Then his thoughts were affected after entering Internet sites, and some intellectually deviant accounts that were about to end his life. He had a brother who was stationed on Al Had Al Janoubi, and he died there. That made the student to return to his senses and regretted on following-up of such accounts and deviant sites. He was able to come back to his life again, and to pay attention to his studies, as well as to get up again and deliver the graduates speech in four languages (Latin, French, English as well as Arabic), in which he said "Yes, we are the stars of tonight, and we are the knights of it, after years of diligence and perseverance, we are now about to graduate, praise be to our Lord much praise and many thanks."
"We are today about to approach graduation, and tomorrow we will be in the arena of work, so I would recommend myself, and you to take into account sincerity and honesty, and to be a construction worker and a giving hand, and added value to improve our beloved homeland in all our fields, and our specialties, and we take great care to master our work, by all of our knowledge and skill. "
Ben Qtomh also thanked those who have exerted the dear and precious efforts in order to reach what they are on now. He added "There is no good in us if we did not acknowledge their favor on us, so thank you our fathers and mothers for all the time you spent to take care of us, and for the exhausting effort to raise us, thank you for the money expended in order to provide our needs, thank you as wide as heaven, and thanks is not enough, may Allah grant you best reward and may He have mercy on those who passed away of you.
At the end of his speech, he clarified that the students were determined to be loyal to their country and their leadership, and they were seeking for the glory of their homeland and its sublimity, and that they would contribute in making the country to be in the first rank of the world in the solid doctrine, and in the relentless vim, and soon the world would see their home lofty - God willing.
At the end of the ceremony, His Royal Highness - the Governor - handed certificates to the first graduates. Then, His Royal Highness received a trophy from His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University.
