King Khalid University (KKU) enjoyed a distinctive coverage in the annual issuance of the QS Organization (Quacquarelli Symonds); an organization which is followed and trusted worldwide. Through its book, the organization has allocated a distinctive area for the university, as it - the university - represents a positive model for the growth and development of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Book, which has been recently published by the organization, is considered an important reference in terms of identifying distinguished universities in the world. And it - the book - is being kept as one of the important references in the most famous and important world's libraries such as the American Library of Congress. It is also distributed to the Top Twenty Summit leaders, including the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - may God protect him.
The international ranking for universities has experienced much attention on the level of different countries because it reflects the efficiency and quality of education in these countries. In the space allocated to the King Khalid University, the QS book presented an article of the Rector - Prof. Abdul Rahman Hamad Al-Dawood - under the title "King Khalid University, a good model for the growth and development of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" In the article, the Rector talked about the inception of the university in 1999 AD. He mentioned the annexation of King Saud University branch, which was offering comprehensive academic programs, to the Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, which was offering Islamic programs and Islamic-related sciences.

The Rector further pointed out that during the period 2005 - 2007 AD, the King Khalid University experienced another phase of expansion and annexation by adding 11 girls' faculties, in addition to 5 nursing schools. Coinciding with the annexation processes, the university developed in a short time, a large number of academic programs. Since then, the university has turned into a comprehensive university with programs in engineering, management, education, biological and natural sciences, medical sciences; including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, and social sciences. The Rector also confirmed that "the university is one of the higher institutions of education that is witnessing increased growth in terms of the number of enrolled students; with more than 70 thousand students". Rector Al-Dawood explained that "the university now, like other Saudi universities, is seeking accreditation from the National Authority for Assessment and Accreditation". Pointing out further that that desire could be achieved through multiple steps, including a detailed study and analysis of the reality of the university in the light of the 11 accreditation standards. Al-Dawood confirmed that "the King Khalid University, based on what has been mentioned above, is a worthwhile example of recent developments in the environment of higher education in the Kingdom. The Rector concluded his article with the current trend of the University; A university of Excellence in the field of education, scientific research and services to the surrounding communities.
