King Khalid University is organizing a seminar on the efforts of the coalition countries to restore hope, development, and stability to the State of Yemen. The seminar also will highlight the security, political and developmental achievements achieved so far.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solamy, Rector of King Khalid University, informed us that the seminar falls under ministerial directives to all Saudi universities. These seminars are expected to highlight the efforts of the coalition countries to restore hope for the development and stability of Yemen on a monthly basis. Rector Al-Solamy added that the seminar King Khalid University is going to hold will occur on Monday, 17/6/1439 AH, in the presence of a number of senior scientists, academicians, intellectuals, and politicians. The seminar aims at highlighting the role of the coalition countries. In the forefront of these countries is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. The seminar also aims to underscore the role of coalition countries in supporting our brothers in Yemen at all levels.

Rector Al-Solamy also spoke about the future role of the Kingdom and the coalition countries in the reconstruction of Yemen after its stability and mobilizing international efforts in support of the legitimate Yemeni government and our people in Yemen.

In his speech, the University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, who is the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Saad Al-Amri, related that the symposium on the efforts of the coalition countries in the development of Yemen and its stability, which will be held at the university, is focused on the issue of separation and its impact on tearing apart the Islamic Ummah. The symposium has three axes:

  • The axis for the efforts of the coalition countries in the stability of Yemen.  
  • The axis of Shia extremism and its historical roots.
  • The axis of the relationship between terrorist groups and the coup in Yemen.

On behalf of the Rector of King Khalid University, the University Vice - President for Health Specialties, Dr. Khalid Al Jelban sponsored a seminar entitled "our youth and the Decisive Storm". The Seminar which was organized by the Medical and Creativity Club took place in the central Stands at the university Headquarter in Abha.  The seminar was presented by both the Head of Information and Communication Department of the University, Dr. Ali bin Shuweil Al-Qarni, and the Dean of Community Services and Continuing Education, Dr. Mubarak Hamdan. The event was attended by the University Vice - President for Development and Quality, Dr. Ahmed Aljbaili, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Abdullah Asiri, and with the attendance of approximately 200 students and faculty members.

The seminar began with a word given by Dr. Al Jelban in which he thanked the guests. He also thanked the Medical and creativity Club for their distinctive activities this year, which had a large impact inside and outside the university.

For his part, the guest at the seminar, Dr. Ali Al-Qarni gave a word about the "New Media and crisis" in which he presented a definition to the role of the new media, and how it is increasing rapidly.  He also mentioned the role of the youth in the new media and how they represent the largest segment of its users. Al-Qarni cited a number of examples of new media and its importance and impact on all communities. He also spoke about the beginning of creating some websites and social networking. Moreover, Al-Qarni stressed on the importance of strengthening the spirit of citizenship when dealing with new media, taking into consideration the Islamic values and national social unity.

Dr. Mubarak Hamdan, the Dean of Community Service and Continuing Education also gave a word about "Youth's role towards internal security during the Decisive Storm", stressing on the importance of the role of youth in the development of the country. Dr. Hamdan further stressed on the importance of maintaining national unity and instilling the values of citizenship and belonging to this great nation, in addition to guiding the youth to raise the cultural and social levels of the nation, and to take advantage of the great potential that is provided by the state to its nationals. Dr. Hamdan concluded his word by stressing on the seriousness of the dissemination of information, photos, videos, and rumors that may jeopardize the security of the nation.

Research Concerns

King Khalid University, represented by the Faculty of Languages and Translation organizes a national seminar titled, "The Present and Future of the English Language in Saudi Arabia: Research Concerns," from 25 to 26 / 12/1435 AH.

The seminar aims to attract researchers in the various sub- disciplines which are relevant to applied linguistics, to share their ideas, and the results of their research, and best practices in research, in addition to teaching with their peers around the Kingdom.

It also aims to increase the academic cadres' awareness of current and future trends in teaching English, in addition to handling urgent research issues in the field of Applied Linguistics at the level of theory, and application.

Those who are in charge of the seminar hope such seminars could strengthen the dissemination of knowledge related to the latest trends and publications in Applied Linguistics. Researchers and Practitioners in the field of linguistics also will be invited, in addition to related sciences, to discuss issues of common interest.

The seminar will discuss a number of issues related to language, literature, methodologies, culture, language planning, language policies, curricula of the English Language, and language education and technology.

In this regard, the Scientific Commission justified 10/24/1435 AH to be the deadline for submission of abstracts, and 11/25/1435 AH to be the deadline for delivering complete researches.

King Khalid Chair organized yesterday a seminar entitled "The Scientific Research, Horizons and Aspirations". It was presented by Dr. Abd Al-Wasa Al-Hemeiri, the teacher of the Arabic Language at the Humanities College. The venue was at the Central Stands, University City, Al-Jrijir.

Al-Hemeiri started with a discussion about the concept of scientific research, philosophy and approach, based on the linguistic meaning of the word "research" and its origin in Arabic dictionaries. During his speech, he clarified that we could identify research process as a process a researcher who searches for something in a certain place with a certain way does in order to achieve a certain goal or purpose.

Based on the linguistic meaning of the word 'Research",  Al-Hemeiri answered some questions,  concentrating on what a researcher is looking for whatever the field of research is; certain issue, topic or the fact of the phenomenon that is still invisible. He added that the phenomenon may be literal, critic or historical which means that facts vary according to the fields and means of research.
